The Starkville Main Street Association is putting on its second of (hopefully) many “Shop Local Warehouse Sale” events downtown, giving local businesses the opportunity to have all of their clearance items in one place for their customers’ convenience. The big sale was on today and will continue tomorrow from 10AM to 6PM at the State Theater on Main Street.
Shopper Karyn Brown said, “We want to support small businesses in Starkville. . . It’s one of the great things about living in a small town. And this is a way to do some Christmas shopping in July.”
Another shopper, Amy Fountain, said that “These are the stores that support our kids’ schools and our little league,” Fountain said.
Alaina Prentice, owner of Merle Norman & Luna Bella in Starkville, said the trouble will all be worth it in the end: “It has, you know, been a hindrance just a little bit. . .But the outcome is going to be wonderful. It’s going to be so beautiful.” While there is roadwork being done nearby, the local shops are open for business: “Yes, there’s a fence up,” Prentice went on to say. “But you can still get to us. I encourage everyone to still come behind the fence and shop with us.”
